This one is a head-scratcher.
Tebow is not a starter, but he's already getting starter treatment. Tebow should play in the fourth preseason game like every other backup quarterback around the league. Why is Tebow the special exemption with the Jets?
Tebow actually could use the reps more than most backup quarterbacks, because he could be called on early this season if starter Mark Sanchez struggles. Tebow should get as many snaps as possible before the regular season. The final preseason game is a great time to do it.
The only logical explanation to sit Tebow would be to prevent injuries. But he's a Wildcat quarterback who will play maybe 10 plays a game on offense and some on special teams. Tebow is not Sanchez or Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis. His role is not big enough to be concerned about him getting injured.
Tebow wants the playing time. Tebow needs the playing time.
What Tebow doesn't need is special treatment.
