It appears the Green Bay Packers got bad news this week about the state of receiver Greg Jennings' groin injury, and it's uncertain at best whether he will be available for Monday night's game at the Seattle Seahawks.

Jennings suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Packers' Week 1 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He practiced for the first time Tuesday, but coach Mike McCarthy told reporters it did not go as hoped and that the team might have been too optimistic about his recovery. The Packers were off Wednesday and Jennings sat out practice Thursday.

Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, McCarthy said: "I know he's frustrated and doesn't feel like he has a handle on it yet."

James Jones started in Jennings' place, alongside Jordy Nelson, in last Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears. The Packers used much more of their two tight-end formation in that game; Nelson (66 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus) and Jones (54) played extensively while Randall Cobb (20) and Donald Driver (12) played sparingly.
