The St. Louis Rams aren't sure how long top wide receiver Danny Amendola will miss after suffering a shoulder injury Thursday night.
Cameras captured Amendola hurling his helmet in frustration while walking toward the Rams' locker room after leaving the field at the Edward Jones Dome. Amendola missed all but one game last season after suffering an elbow/triceps injury.
I've put together a few thoughts in the video above.
The chart provides some indication for Amendola's value over the middle of the field.
Before Thursday, Amendola had accounted for 48.5 percent of the Rams' yardage on passes completed between the yard-line numbers (262 of 540 yards), according to ESPN Stats & Information. He had accounted for 25.9 percent of yardage outside the numbers.
Veteran Steve Smith came to mind a player like to get additional chances with Amendola sidelined. Austin Pettis is another candidate.
