Here are the most interesting stories Tuesday in the AFC North:
- According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Browns kick returner Joshua Cribbs will show up for training camp but won't play in a game until he receives a new contract.
Morning take: This situation has been looming for a while and it is now crunch time for both parties. Let's see who blinks first in this interesting standoff.
- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco says he's not worried about their receiver situation but remains hopeful that Derrick Mason returns, writes Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun.
Morning take: As a developing leader on offense, Flacco is doing and saying the right things. But deep down he has to be concerned to some degree about the lack of quality targets.
- Carlos Holmes of the Dayton Daily News reports second-round linebacker Rey Maualuga and third-round tight end Chase Coffman could have contracts in place soon.
Morning take: This is good news for the Bengals, who hold their first practice Friday. But things remain eerily quiet with first-rounder Andre Smith.
Morning take: Our four panelists got it right this summer. But with little national fanfare in the AFC North, it will be interesting to monitor how the entire division is treated throughout the year.
