Dustin Keller is not the best tight end in the NFL. But he is the best option the New York Jets have left on offense.

Keller
Jets coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday that he expects Keller to return from a hamstring injury Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Keller has missed the past four games.

Following a season-ending foot injury to No. 1 receiver Santonio Holmes, New York's offense has been grounded and pounded. The Jets' offense has scored just one touchdown in the past eight quarters without Holmes and Keller. New York was shut out by the San Francisco 49ers, 34-0, and had a special-teams touchdown in Monday’s 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans.

Keller is quarterback Mark Sanchez's most dependable weapon. Even during times when Holmes and Sanchez were not on the same page, Keller always had good chemistry with his quarterback. Sanchez is at his best throwing in the middle of the field, and we saw flashes of that Monday when Sanchez threw a touchdown pass to backup tight end Jeff Cumberland.

The Jets have received nothing but bad injury news the past few weeks. First, it was Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis lost for the season. Then it was Holmes who was lost for the year.

Keller's potential return this weekend is a nice change of pace for the struggling Jets (2-3).
