BALTIMORE -- For at least a quarter, I was watching the Redskins-Ravens preseason game at M&T Bank Stadium. But when the news hit that Michael Vick had signed with the Eagles, that obviously became my focus.
And quite honestly, Redskins players were more interested talking about Vick than a 23-0 loss to the Ravens. All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth sat out Thursday's game. He said someone told him about Vick signing with the Eagles while he was on the sideline.
"I'm glad for him," Haynesworth said of Vick. "That man's suffered enough. I've played against him once or twice. He's a good player. I just think we're all human and we make mistakes. You can't hold it against him."
Haynesworth brought up the fact that he'd once become an NFL outcast when he viciously stomped on Cowboys center Andre Gurode's face in 2006.
"Some people still haven't forgotten about that," Haynesworth said. "But I've moved [on] and I've grown up a lot. My punishment was nothing like his, but I know what it's like to make a mistake. Fortunately, you can re-write history sometimes. And maybe he can cover up or erase some of the stuff by the way he plays."
In the morning, I'll be making my way back to Philadelphia for the Vick news conference at 11 a.m. ET. Keep reading the NFC East blog for more updates.
