Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won't play against the Ravens in Sunday night's battle for first place in the AFC North, according to FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer.
This is what Glazer reported via Twitter:
Ben Roethlisberger is out this week and Byron Leftwich will get the start. Steelers are not taking any chances w Ben, deciding to sit him
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin classified Roethlisberger as questionable on Tuesday when he revealed the quarterback sprained his right shoulder. But many believed the odds were against Roethlisberger playing against the Ravens.
On Tuesday, a Steelers source told ESPN's Josina Anderson the staff was told, "proceed with Byron (Leftwich). It doesn't look like you're going to have Ben this week. We're looking at next week as a possibility as of right now."
Since 2005, the Steelers are 0-4 against the Ravens when Roethlisberger doesn't start.
