An overwhelming majority of voters believe Ryan should be fired -- either now or by the end of the year. New York’s 4-7 record and pitiful display in a 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots has a lot of people ready to move in a different direction.
But I’m in the minority. I think a lot of anti-Ryan votes are a knee-jerk reaction to the current state of the team and what we saw on Thanksgiving.
I’ve said for weeks that Ryan deserves one more year. He went to back-to-back AFC title games his first two seasons and deserves another chance to right the ship. He’s never had a losing season in New York, although 2012 is shaping up to be the first time it’s happened.
Either way, these next five games are crucial for Ryan. The Jets must continue to show fight in order to convince owner Woody Johnson to keep Ryan beyond this season.
