Bills shut down RB Fred Jackson

December, 11, 2012
The Buffalo Bills did the inevitable Tuesday when they placed tailback Fred Jackson (knee) on injured reserve, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Jackson was injured Sunday against the St. Louis Rams and had been projected to missed 2-3 weeks. The Bills decided there was no point in waiting to see if Jackson would come back for the season finale.

This is the second straight year Jackson, 31, has ended the season on injured reserve. This means it’s officially C.J. Spiller time for the remainder of the season. The Bills have been criticized often for not giving the dynamic Spiller enough carries this year. Buffalo has no choice but to use Spiller more often.

The Bills will play the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in Toronto.
