Over the weekend, we acknowledged a stunning and regrettable admission from former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Lomas Brown. If you missed it, Brown said on ESPN radio last week that he intentionally missed a block in 1994 in an attempt to get Lions quarterback Scott Mitchell knocked out of a game against the Green Bay Packers.

Brown has come under universal criticism for an act that runs counter to everything team sports are supposed to be about. Mitchell himself told USA Today that Brown's admission "floored" him and that it was "reprehensible." Thursday, Brown appeared on ESPN's "First Take" and said he regrets now what happened 18 years ago but doesn't retract the veracity of the story. He acknowledged he should have spoken "more tactful" because his interview last week came off "boastful."

I don't have anything more to add to this story. Brown implied that there was more going on behind the scenes with that 1994 Lions team, but I can't really think of anything that would have justified such twisted justice. The video of Brown's "First Take" appearance is embedded in this post.
