Chiefs: Cutdown analysis

Biggest surprise: The great returner battle will continue. Both B.J. Sams and Dantrell Savage made the team. Both players finished strong Thursday night against St. Louis so the battle moves on. But let's face it, one of these two players could still go soon. The Chiefs are a young team that will likely scour the waiver wire often. But for now they celebrate.

No-brainer: The youth movement rolls on. The Chiefs' draft class is well represented on the 53-man roster. And it should be. Many league observers believe this class will end up being one of the best in the NFL this decade. Ten of Kansas City's 12 draft picks are on the 53-man roster with seventh rounder Michael Merritt landing on the injured reserve.

What's next: The Chiefs roster is likely not set. There will be some additions as the team continues to look toward the future. Target areas for improvement include the offensive line, linebacker and receiver. The changing can start as soon as Sunday with Kansas City making some waiver claims.
