GREEN BAY, Wis. -- We should find out later on Friday afternoon the status of Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones, but he was unable to practice for the third straight day because of the knee injury he sustained last Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Early in the week, the Packers were hopeful Jones would be able to practice on Friday but when reporters were allowed in, there was no sign of him. It’s possible he was working out inside the Don Hutson Center while the team was practicing outside. If Jones can’t play on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field, it would leave the Packers with only three receivers -- Jordy Nelson, Jarrett Boykin and Myles White.

It was the same for outside linebacker Mike Neal, who has not practiced all week because of a bruised shoulder. The situation at that position might be even more troubling than at receiver. Without Neal, the Packers would have only two outside linebackers -- rookies Andy Mulumba and Nate Palmer.

The same seven players who have not practiced all week also were out on Friday. They were: running back James Starks (knee), linebacker Clay Matthews (thumb), linebacker Nick Perry (foot), linebacker Brad Jones (hamstring), tight end Ryan Taylor (knee) plus James Jones and Neal.

The full injury report will be available later on Friday.
