IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick has heard about the rookie wall, he just has not seen it yet and doesn't know if he ever will.

"We're just in the thick of it, in the routine and halfway home," Frederick said. "A couple weeks here we'll have the bye week then we'll have a different week with Thanksgiving and everything. Right now it's all downhill from here basically."

Frederick has started every game and taken every snap so far this season. He said the preparation of an NFL season compared to a college season is designed to keep a player fresher throughout.

"At the end of your season in college they're meant to have worn you out basically," Frederick said.

The Cowboys practice only one day a week in pads and most of the time it is not even for a full practice.

"Everything we've asked him to do he does," coach Jason Garrett said. "That's right from the start. He picks things up quickly. He practices hard. He loves to play. Haven't seen any evidence of that. He plays like a veteran player."

The Cowboys could not be more pleased with Frederick. He is also pleased with the start to the season but not satisfied.

"I think that I've come a long way," Frederick said. "It's interesting to sit back and look at where I was eight weeks ago and where I was 12 weeks ago going into the preseason. I've come such a long way, but I still have such a long way to go. It's like you've entered the desert and you saw where I was at that mountain. It was a rough area, even some preseason games, but now I'm getting to the point where it's kind of been the same.

"It's starting to become continuous and you want to be consistent and have that continuous motion. That's what I describe as the plains and the desert. You're just walking. There's no end in sight to where you end and where you're going to stop getting better. There's so many things I've got to improve on, but I've certainly come a long way."
