NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Bernard Pollard's fine total this season is up to $52,000 after a $10,000 fine for a late hit on Rams quarterback Kellen Clemens, says Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.

The Tennessee Titans' strong safety has had a beef with the NFL over past fines.

Pollard
The NFL hit him with a $42,000 fine for a hit on Texans receiver Andre Johnson on Sept. 5 after which he suggested the league let offenses play against air and check on how television ratings fared without defenses as part of the game. I thought that fine was out of whack with another from the same game.

This fine is less debatable, though we’ve not heard from Pollard as the penalty came to light after the Titans' availability on Friday.

But Pollard said after the game that he had apologized to Clemens for the hit, which came after Clemens had started to give himself up with a slide at the end of a 16-yard scramble. You might get a look at it via Instagram or Twitter.

The play did not draw a flag in the game.

I just rewatched it. It wasn’t vicious by any means, but it did break the rule.

Wyatt also reported that defensive tackle Jurrell Casey was hit with a $15,750 fine for a horse-collar tackle of running back Zac Stacy.
