Pierre-Paul not practicing Wednesday

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will not practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday's victory over the Raiders, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said.

Coughlin said Pierre-Paul, who returned to the game following the injury, was sore but optimistic that he'd be able to practice Thursday and play Sunday against the Packers.

Whenever an injury of any kind keeps a player from practicing, it's noteworthy -- especially when it's a player as important as Pierre-Paul is to the Giants. But at this point the news falls short of alarming -- similar to last week's injury to Victor Cruz, which held him out of Wednesday's practice but didn't keep him from playing Sunday. Worth monitoring as the week goes along.

Also not practicing Tuesday are running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring/knee), cornerback Corey Webster (groin/ankle) and cornerback Terrell Thomas (knee).

Thomas gets a prescribed day off each week to rest his surgically repaired knee, and Coughlin said that's all this is. Jacobs has been out since Week 6 with his leg issues. Webster has only played bits of two games since Week 2, and while Coughlin said he though Webster had cleared a hurdle some weeks back, apparently the ankle is what's keeping him off the field for now. Webster also has lost his starting cornerback job to Trumaine McBride.

Tight end Bear Pascoe has an ankle injury that Coughlin said could keep him from practicing, but he wasn't sure. Not on the pre-practice injury report Wednesday were 2013 mainstays Adrien Robinson and Jayron Hosley, who apparently are full-go.
