Buccaneers starting a winning streak?
By Pat Yasinskas
TAMPA, Fla. -- They’ve only played one half of football, but two members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are having career days.
With the Bucs leading the Atlanta Falcons, 24-6, at halftime, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and running back Bobby Rainey have played like absolute superstars.
Rainey has rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. McCoy has three sacks in the first half. McCoy came into the game with three sacks for the season.
The Bucs (1-8) also have been imaginative, successfully executing an onside kick and unsuccessfully attempting a fake field goal. The Bucs have been doing all sorts of things they haven’t done much of this season, including completing a lengthy (47 yards) pass to Vincent Jackson.
It’s worth noting the Bucs have had some first-half leads that they’ve squandered this season. But I haven’t seen many signs that the Falcons can overcome Tampa Bay's lead.
