Power Rankings: No. 16 New York Jets

By Rich Cimini

A weekly examination of the Jets' Power Ranking:

Preseason: 32 | Last Week: 12 | Power Ranking since 2002

How fitting is this?

After falling to the Buffalo Bills, the Jets dropped four spots to the virtual middle of the rankings -- No. 16. The middle is exactly where you'd expect to find a team with a 5-5 record, a team that has alternated wins and losses for the entire season -- the first team in history to maintain that pattern through its first 10 games.

Looking at their remaining schedule, the Jets face only one team ranked ahead of them: the No. 5 Carolina Panthers. So in theory, the Jets should cruise to a winning record and, perhaps, a wild-card berth in the AFC.

But as we all know, the Jets are a theory-busting team. In theory, they should've beaten the Bills. How'd that go?
