Rapid Reaction: Tennessee Titans

By Paul Kuharsky

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A few thoughts on the Tennessee Titans' 20-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field:

What it means: The Titans rallied to beat the Jaguars and clinched second place in the lousy AFC South. They snapped a three-game losing streak and go into the final week of the season with the potential to get to seven wins, one better than last season. A loss would have really hurt Mike Munchak. I’m not sure this win, against a team with inferior talent, should help him all that much.

Stock watch: Veteran receiver Nate Washington came to play and showed good fight and toughness with six catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. His future is a bit of a question as he’s due to count $5.1 million against the salary cap in 2014. The Titans have two solid kids at the position in Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter. But Washington can still be a valuable piece.

Short-yardage issues: The Titans ultimately started running in short-yardage situations, but on their first two -- a third-and-1 in which Ryan Fitzpatrick was sacked and a fourth-and-goal from the 1 in which Fitzpatrick overthrew Delanie Walker -- they went away from what their identity is supposed to be.

What’s next: The Titans host Houston and look to avenge a Week 2 loss in their final game of the season. It may be the last game for a lot of people.
