NFLN survey/player safety: Cardinals
By Josh Weinfuss
The answer was almost a no-brainer -- no pun intended, of course.
When I asked 10 Arizona Cardinals, ‘true or false, would you play in the Super Bowl with a concussion?’ it was unanimous. All 10 said they would, and I wasn’t surprised in the least bit.
Take Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald for example. After suffering a concussion against Tennessee on Dec. 15, he did everything in his power to play the following Sunday at Seattle. And that’s just for a regular-season game. We’re talking about the Super Bowl, the end-all, be-all, the championship game, the pinnacle of a player’s career. There is no way a player -- regardless of the long-term effects -- would sit out the Super Bowl because of a concussion. And the numbers prove it.
