Jaguars free agents: Chad Henne
By Michael DiRocco
Summary: Henne started 13 games and threw for 3,421 yards and 13 touchdowns with 14 interceptions He threw nine touchdown passes and five interceptions in the final five games and brought stability to an offense that played much better in the second half of the season.
Why keep him: He is the best option of the quarterbacks currently on the roster and would be a good mentor to a young quarterback. GM David Caldwell has indicated that it’s hard for rookie quarterbacks to play right away and the team would be confident in Henne starting at least the first part of the season.
Why let him go: He’s not exactly an elite quarterback and likely isn’t going to develop into one, either. It may be better to start fresh with a rookie and have him grow with the rest of the team.
Best guess: Henne agrees to an extension before the start to free agency on March 11.
