Offseason Blueprint: Buccaneers
By Pat Yasinskas
General manager Jason Licht and coach Lovie Smith have made it clear they will build primarily through the draft. That is how they plan on adding core players.
But that doesn’t mean the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be silent in free agency. The team already has a good chunk of cap room, and that could increase if some veterans are released or traded. The Bucs likely will use free agency to add role players, but they have the money to pull a surprise and sign a big-name free agent or two.
The Bucs have multiple needs (defensive end, offensive line, wide receiver, tight end and possibly quarterback). They are not going to be able to fill all those needs in the draft. So they will have to be somewhat active in free agency.
