Analyzing McShay mock: Packers

By Rob Demovsky

No one knows for sure who Ted Thompson will pick with the 21st selection in next month's NFL draft. Even the Green Bay Packers general manager himself might not know yet.

But put ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay on the clock, and he's ready to make a pick right now. In his latest mock draft , McShay selected who he would pick if at the controls of all 32 teams.

So with the 21st pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Todd McShay selects ... Louisville safety Calvin Pryor.

It's interesting to note that McShay picked Pryor for the Packers over Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier, among others. Shazier's name recently has been tied to the Packers, who may be looking for an upgrade over Brad Jones at inside linebacker.

However, Pryor probably makes the most sense both because of the value he would be at that spot as the second-best safety in the draft and because safety remains the Packers' greatest need.

In McShay's latest scenario, all of the following players who likely would interest the Packers at No. 21 were already off the board: North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron (No. 9 to the Buffalo Bills), Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (No. 10 to the Detroit Lions), Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley (No. 13 to the St. Louis Rams) and LSU receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (No. 15 to the Pittsburgh Steelers).
