Julius Thomas held out of scrimmage

By Jeff Legwold

DENVER – Taking a no-risk approach, the Denver Broncos held Pro Bowl tight end Julius Thomas out of a scrimmage Saturday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Thomas suffered a thigh bruise in Friday’s practice. He is, however, expected to be back on the field when the team returns to practice on Monday.

Head coach John Fox called it “a slight, little thigh bruise.’’

"He got bumped into and it was a little bit tight, so we didn’t want to risk it," Fox said. "He’ll be fine."

The Broncos also elected to hold cornerback Chris Harris Jr. (knee), defensive end DeMarcus Ware (lower right leg) and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson (hip) out of the workout. All three of those players had been practicing.

Safety Duke Ihenacho left the practice with knee tendonitis and cornerback Jerome Murphy suffered a concussion.

Defensive end Chase Vaughn (right knee), defensive end Greg Latta (right hip) and cornerback Louis Young (groin), who have been held out of practice of late, did not participate. Linebacker Von Miller took part in individual drills as well as some seven-on-seven work.
