Observation Deck: Oakland Raiders

By Paul Gutierrez

It's true, this was the Oakland Raiders' first time tackling to the ground since training camp opened more than two weeks ago. And it looked that way early in the exhibition opener, a 10-6 loss Friday night to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Raiders did not look ready, and getting flagged for a penalty on the first play of the game -- a false start on right tackle Menelilk Watson -- set the tone. A bad one. There were countless drops, both on offense and by the defense on potential interceptions. Matt McGloin got the Raiders on the scoreboard with a 10-yard rushing TD with less than two minutes to play.

Here are some other thoughts on the Raiders' first preseason game of the year.
