Seventeen years into his sensationally productive career and two weeks shy of his 39th birthday, who could've imagined Brett Favre still had the ability to outdo himself?

The first-ballot Hall of Famer broke a personal record Sunday afternoon, throwing for six touchdown passes in a 56-35 triumph over the Arizona Cardinals in the Meadowlands. It was the second-highest scoring output in Jets history.

Favre had thrown for five touchdowns in a game three times, the most recent 10 years and one day ago. Every year he had a five-touchdown game, the Packers made the playoffs.

All of Favre's strikes came in the second and fourth quarters. His first three TD passes were to Laveranues Coles in the second quarter. Favre then connected with Jerricho Cotchery for a couple and teamed up with rookie tight end Dustin Keller.

Favre threw for a relatively modest 289 yards. He had only one interception, an early cross-field mistake that had Jets fans grumbling. But he finished the afternoon with as many TD passes as he threw in his first three games combined.

Favre's big day, however, didn't break the Jets' record for TD tosses. He tied Joe Namath, who threw for six touchdowns in September 1972 against theBaltimore Colts.
