Halftime notes: Rivers, Gates playing well
By Bill Williamson
SAN DIEGO -- San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers is playing well despite being pressured often. He has completed 13 of 19 passes for 159 yards.
San Diego tight end Antonio Gates is also playing well. He had five catches for 58 yards in the first half.
San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson is having a long day. He had 20 yards on nine carries, San Diego’s defense played great in the first half. The Jets have not been able to establish a decent run game.
The keys for San Diego in the second half: Get a couple of big plays offensively. The Jets, who cut the lead to 7-3 early in the second quarter, don’t look like they can keep up. If San Diego scores another 10 points, it wins.
