Babin would be role player for Titans
By Paul Kuharsky
There is always the chance that defensive line coach Jim Washburn could transform a journeyman into a stud.
But it’s understandable that many Titans fans are hardly excited that the team is hosting defensive end Jason Babin Monday.
Terry McCormick runs through how Tennessee traded Houston the pick in the 2004 draft used for Babin, acquiring three picks in exchange for bumping back. The Texans envisioned Babin as a starting linebacker in their 3-4, but he never panned out and has since played for Kansas City, Seattle and Philadelphia.
If the Titans sign Babin, they wouldn’t be expecting him to take Kyle Vanden Bosch's spot. That will be up to William Hayes and Jacob Ford. Babin would be part of the rotation.
The Titans have also expressed what Jim Wyatt called a “mild interest” in free agent end Marques Douglas, another guy who would likely fill the same role-player spot.
