How I See It: AFC North Stock Watch
By James Walker
Ravens left tackle Jared Gaither: Agent Drew Rosenhaus said there are no issues between Gaither and Baltimore. So let's provide that early disclaimer right off the bat. But the fact is, Gaither was a no-show for the start of offseason workouts, and Ravens coach John Harbaugh wasn't pleased. Harbaugh told the Baltimore Sun this week at the owners meetings, "Jared needs to be in our weight room with our players with our offensive line, becoming the player he can become." Gaither, a restricted free agent who has a first-round tender, is expected to join the team Monday. But the last thing any Ravens player needs is to start the offseason program by drawing the ire of the head coach.
Steelers and Bengals draft picks: The two teams gained a combined five compensatory picks this week in the NFL draft, which are awarded to teams that lost more significant free agents than they signed last season. That gives Pittsburgh and Cincinnati tremendous flexibility to draft additional talent, sign restricted free agents or pull off trades. The Bengals received valuable compensatory picks in the third and fourth rounds. The Steelers were awarded three extra picks -- two in the fifth round and one in the seventh. They were the only two teams in the AFC North to get compensatory picks this year. Cincinnati and Pittsburgh have nine and 10 total draft picks, respectively.
