How I See It: AFC West Stock Watch

By Bill Williamson

NFC Stock Watch: East | West | North | South AFC: East | West | North | South

Falling

Denver’s talent at receiver: While the Broncos were well served to get rid of the headache that was Brandon Marshall, and they did well by getting two second-round picks from Miami in return, there is a cost. The Broncos are now very weak at receiver. Marshall had 101 catches last season. Jabar Gaffney was second on the team with 54 catches. Eddie Royal had a terrible second season. He had 37 catches after making 91 catches as a rookie. The Broncos desperately need help at receiver. They probably will draft a couple of receivers, perhaps starting at No. 11 with Dez Bryant. If the Broncos don’t adequately address the position in the draft, they may have to look to a veteran such as Terrell Owens.

Rising

Philip Rivers’ confidence in the team’s running back situation: San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers has studied the available rookie running back class and he likes what he sees. The Chargers have a desperate need for a new primary back. They probably will draft a running back at No. 28 or No. 40. Rivers is right. The running back class is very deep. The Chargers are going to get a solid back, and Rivers knows he will be very happy in a couple of weeks.
