AFC East High Energy Player of the Week

By Tim Graham

NFC High Energy: East | West | North | South AFC: East | West | North | South

A look at a player who gave his team a significant boost in Week 13.

After two weeks of authoritative reader responses for the AFC East High Energy performer, we had a determination go down to the wire.

An hour ago, I had to end voting and zip to the airport.

Danny Woodhead

The last reader to cast his ballot before the cutoff was dylan8791, who voted for New England Patriots running back Danny Woodhead. Five minutes earlier, SportsFan1236 also voted for Woodhead.

That gave Woodhead a two-vote victory over Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for the Week 13 honor.

Woodhead caught four passes for a game-high 104 yards on Monday night. While he didn't get into the end zone, his performance in a 45-3 victory over the New York Jets was extra sweet. The Jets released Woodhead in September.

"Danny is a heck of a player," Patriots receiver Wes Welker said. "He's done such a great job for us. We got him off the streets, and he's come in here and been such a great addition for us, makes some big plays for us and continues to do it week in and week out."

Woodhead was diplomatic about beating his old team.

"I am a New England Patriot," Woodhead said. "Was I over there at one time? Yeah, but that isn't something that I dwell on or ever want to dwell on because that's not who I am now. I am a New England Patriot, and that's the most important thing. I'm going to do my best for this team."
