Updating Walden's ankle and Griffen's party
By Kevin Seifert
DALLAS -- Two random items as we await the 7 p.m. ET announcement of Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2011:
- It sounds like it will be a tough road for Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden to play in Super Bowl XLV. According to Saturday's pool report, Walden did not participate in the Packers' morning walk-through practice. Coach Mike McCarthy said: "Erik's going to have to show us something before the game. Obviously we're going over early, 2 o'clock, so we'll have a decision right there at the deadline." Frank Zombo seems likely to start in Walden's place.
- Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has canceled a party he was hosting in Las Vegas this weekend, according to Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com. USC officials had barred its football players from attending it for fear of it leading to NCAA violations. Griffen was arrested twice in the span of three days last week, and Pelissero suggests Vikings officials asked him to tone down his public profile.
