Thoughts on 49ers' third-round corner

By Mike Sando

The San Francisco 49ers maneuvered within the third round before addressing their need at cornerback with Chris Culliver, taken 80th overall.

Culliver, from South Carolina, is a former receiver with good height for the position (6 feet). He also suffered from injury problems in college, including a torn pectoral.

"I like him; he is a press corner," draft analyst Rob Rang said. "One of the concerns I had was he was a corner-safety tweener. He is athletic enough to play corner, but wasn't as physical as you would always like. I thought Seattle might have some interest in him as well, but I thought he might go in the fourth round."

The chart shows which picks the 49ers have after swapping third-rounders with Jacksonville and picking up the 182nd overall choice.
