Gruden opens up about criticism, future plans

Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

Jon Gruden recently sat down with The Orlando Sentinel and The Tampa Tribune and discussed his future and his firing by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Although it looks like Gruden probably will take a year off because just about every college and pro job is filled, he's still working. He's got an office set up at the facilities of the Tampa Bay Storm and is watching film. Gruden didn't really say if he has his eye on a job in the NFL or at the college level in the future, but he certainly sounded like a guy who wants to stay in coaching.

Gruden also said he was disappointed with the criticism that came from players such as Jeff Garcia, Michael Clayton and Simeon Rice after his firing. But he didn't fire any shots at them.

Oh, one other thing. Gruden said he believes Florida's Tim Tebow can play quarterback in the NFL although others have said he might have to move to tight end or another position. Since Gruden's always had a fascination with quarterbacks, it's probably fair to start speculating now on where he ends up next year and, if it's with an NFL team, if he'll draft Tebow.
