Falcons wrap up Tyson Clabo
By Pat Yasinskas
The Atlanta Falcons accomplished their main preseason goal Thursday night, agreeing to terms on a contract to keep right tackle Tyson Clabo, according to Adam Schefter.
Clabo, who made the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season, was Atlanta’s top priority among its free agents. Guards Harvey Dahl and Justin Blalock and the Falcons have drafted potential replacements for them the past two years. But losing Claybo was not something the Falcons were ready for.
They reportedly had strong competition from the Buffalo Bills, but the Falcons won out in the end. Terms of the deal weren’t available immediately. With Clabo taken care of, the Falcons can turn their attention to defensive end.
They made an unsuccessful run at Carolina defensive end Charles Johnson, who elected to stay with the Panthers. Minnesota’s Ray Edwards still could be a possibility.
