Loss of Ty Warren would hurt Denver
By Bill Williamson
I had just landed in Kansas City in preparation of my visit to the Chiefs’ training camp when I received word that the Denver Broncos may have suffered a serious injury.
New defensive lineman Ty Warren may have suffered a serious triceps injury. He is being examined and the extent of the injury is not known. But he could be out a while.
Warren’s absence would hurt Denver. He was the Broncos’ big free-agent signing as he signed a two-year, $8 million deal after being cut by New England. He was expected to bring stability to Denver’s weakest spot on the roster. To make matters worse, fellow Denver defensive tackle Marcus Thomas suffered a pectoral injury in practice Monday. The injuries occurred minutes apart. Thomas’ status is not known, either.
Warren’s injury would likely mean newly acquired Brodrick Bunkley will get more playing time. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Broncos look for veteran help at the position in the next month if Warren’s injury is serious.
