Thursday evening notes
Posted by ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert
Let's catch up on some NFC North happenings here on Thursday evening:
- Green Bay is hosting free-agent safety Anthony Smith on a visit, according to Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal, and are hoping to sign him soon. Smith was once a starter in Pittsburgh -- infamous for predicting a victory over undefeated New England in 2007 -- but spent last season as a backup. While with the Steelers, he played for new Packers safeties coach Darren Perry.
- Detroit re-signed offensive lineman Damion Cook, according to David Birkett of the Oakland Press. It's not clear whether the Lions are still trying to sign free agent Daniel Loper, who visited Wednesday. Cook will be in the mix to start at left guard.
- Minnesota has scheduled a visit with defensive back Karl Paymah, according to Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Paymah played his first four seasons with Denver and spent Thursday visiting Baltimore.
