Joining the throng of Packers in San Diego

By Kevin Seifert

AWAITING THE NFC NORTH BLOG CHARIOT -- We've had a couple of NFC North tidbits Saturday, all of which I am reviewing now as I await Saturday evening's trip to San Diego. To wit:
I'm scheduled for a relatively late arrival in San Diego, so I'm sorry if I don't see any of the thousands of Green Bay Packers fans who have reportedly descended on southern California for this game. AFC West colleague Bill Williamson reported that between 25,000 and 30,000 Packers fans could be in town. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune just tweeted this photo of downtown San Diego.

By coincidence or otherwise, the Chargers pumped in crowd noise for their practice Friday, according to Acee. Acee was told the Chargers were targeting the noise at their defense, but it's pretty unusual for a team to use crowd noise -- for any reason -- in preparation for a home game.

See you on the other side.
