Schedule to be released Tuesday

Posted by ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert

It's official. Tuesday is a national holiday.

Many of you have been asking when the NFL will announce the full 2009 schedule, and we have recently learned Tuesday (April 14) is the day. The NFL Network has turned the announcement into a prime-time affair, meaning the schedules will be released during a live broadcast at 7 p.m. ET.

The timing is going to make it difficult to justify a day off from work, but we'll have some timely analysis set and some fun debate under way when you get home.

As you remember, the NFL already has announced that Chicago and Green Bay will open the season in a nationally televised game Sept. 13 at Lambeau Field. (And that was before the Bears traded for quarterback Jay Cutler.) We also know that Green Bay and Detroit will play on Thanksgiving Day at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Try to contain your excitement for the remaining schedule. As of this posting, you're only five days away.
