Schefter: No suspension for Harrison Smith
By Kevin Seifert
Our Free Head Exam on the Minnesota Vikings will post shortly, but for now I want to pass along this news from ESPN's Adam Schefter. The NFL is expected to fine, but not suspend, Vikings safety Harrison Smith for shoving aside back judge Steve Freeman in Sunday's 30-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
The play occurred early in the second quarter, and Smith missed 75 percent of the Vikings' defensive snaps after his ejection. Afterwards he said: "Just stupid for me putting myself in that situation and putting the ref in that situation. Putting the ref in that situation, I apologize for that."
Here is the rest of Sunday's post on the incident. The Vikings' defense didn't really miss a beat after rookie Robert Blanton replaced Smith.
