Jared Gaither doubtful for Monday
By Bill Williamson
It is likely San Diego left tackle Jared Gaither will be out again Monday night in a crucial game against Denver.
Gaither didn’t practice Saturday because of a groin injury he suffered late last week in New Orleans. He is listed as doubtful on the injury report. Gaither didn’t practice all week. Expect undrafted rookie Mike Harris to replace Gaither again. Harris played for Gaither in the preseason and for the first three games of the season when Gaither had a back injury,
Predictably, Harris had his up-and-downs. The Chargers are much better off with Gaither playing, but it seems like the Chargers will have to deal with Denver’s strong pass rush without him.
San Diego receivers Malcom Floyd (groin) and Eddie Royal hamstring) are questionable to face Denver. Floyd practiced fully Saturday, while Royal was limited.
Meanwhile, Denver left tackle Ryan Clady practiced fully Saturday and is listed as probable to play Monday. He missed Friday’s practice with a tweaked hamstring. It seems like guard Chris Kuper is ready to go as well. He has been out with a broken forearm. Denver coach John Fox said Kuper made “great progress’ in practice this week. Kuper played a few snaps on special teams last week as he was eased back into action.
