John Harbaugh beats up on losing teams
By Jamison Hensley
Some would argue that Sunday's game against the Raiders (3-5) is a trap game because it comes a week before the Ravens' game against the Steelers. But Baltimore's history under coach John Harbaugh says that won't happen.
Since 2008, Harbaugh has a 29-4 record against teams that finished with a losing record at the end of the season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only Atlanta's Mike Smith has a better mark (32-1) among coaches with at least 15 games against losing teams.
This season, five of the Ravens' six victories have come against teams that currently have losing records. Their average margin of victory against Cincinnati, Cleveland (twice), Kansas City and Dallas has been 10.6 points.
The Ravens won't have many games like this in the second half of the season. There's a chance that they will only face two more teams with losing records (Washington and Cincinnati) the rest of the way after Sunday.
