NFL Power Rankings: AFC North reaction

By Jamison Hensley

One team in the AFC North moved up and another moved down. There were two that remained the same. Here's a recap of the Week 12 power rankings:

BALTIMORE RAVENS

ESPN Power Ranking: No. 5

My ranking: No. 6

2012 record: 8-2

Comment: The Bears, who were ranked No. 3, lost at San Francisco. That means the Ravens should move up, right? Not in the eyes of voters. The Packers leapfrogged the Ravens after Green Bay won its fifth straight.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

ESPN Power Ranking: No. 11

My ranking: No. 9

2012 record: 6-4

Comment: The Steelers fell two spots after the home loss to the Ravens. I didn't drop Pittsburgh in my poll. The Steelers lost to the No. 5 team by a field goal while starting a backup quarterback. My problem is moving the Steelers below the Giants after they just beat New York.

CINCINNATI BENGALS

ESPN Power Ranking: No. 17

My ranking: No. 16

2012 record: 5-5

Comment: The roller-coaster season continues for Cincinnati. The Bengals rose at high at No. 12 in Week 5 and fell as far as No. 23 by Week 10. Now, after back-to-back wins, they have found some middle ground. Of the three 5-5 teams (Dallas and New Orleans are the others), the Bengals are the lowest ranked.

CLEVELAND BROWNS

ESPN Power Ranking: No. 30

My ranking: No. 30

2012 record: 2-8

Comment: The Browns are playing better. The fact that they nearly won at Dallas is evidence of that. But you can't move Cleveland past the other two-win team, the Panthers. Carolina nearly beat Tampa Bay on Sunday, losing to the Buccaneers in overtime.
