Power Rankings: Dissing the Patriots?
By James Walker
It was a banner weekend for the AFC East in Week 11. The division went 3-1 after struggling to win consistently most of the season.
But one of the biggest shafts in ESPN.com’s Power Rankings might be the reigning AFC champion New England Patriots (7-3). They put up 59 points in a trouncing of the Indianapolis Colts, a playoff contender, and didn’t budge with our panel.
Interestingly, the Patriots remain behind teams like the Denver Broncos, who lost to New England head to head, and the Chicago Bears, who were trounced for the second week in a row.
Here is how the entire division fared:
The Dolphins were the only team to take a tumble this week. Miami dropped to No. 20 after suffering a 19-14 loss to the Bills. The Jets picked up a solid win on the road against the St. Louis Rams. New York had the biggest jump in this week’s Power Rankings by moving up four spots. Buffalo moved up three spots after beating the Dolphins.
