NFC West watching from the Superdome

By Mike Sando

NEW ORLEANS -- Greetings from the Superdome, site of the San Francisco 49ers' Week 12 game against the New Orleans Saints.

I arrived early enough to walk around the Superdome and surrounding area before the early kickoffs. The shrimp poboy sandwich at Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar was fantastic with a little Louisiana Crystal Hot Sauce. Nearby, three young women wearing Aldon Smith gear identified themselves as the 49ers outside linebacker's cousins. Smith leads the NFL in sacks with 15.0 after collecting 5.5 against Chicago on Monday night.

ESPN's Ed Werder is also here for the 49ers-Saints game. This is our view.

All signs and reports point to Colin Kaepernick starting for the 49ers at quarterback. The 49ers have not made an announcement and probably will not make one.

I'm watching the Seattle Seahawks' game at Miami on TV while awaiting the 49ers-Saints game. Both young quarterbacks are struggling early. Seattle already has an interception, by rookie linebacker Bobby Wagner.
