Ricky Brown's unexpected fight for the middle linebacker job may be over for a while. He will likely win the job, at least temporarily, by default.
Kirk Morrison, Oakland's leading tackle for the past three years, reportedly dislocated his elbow Saturday night against San Francisco. He is expected to miss several weeks.
Brown was pushing Morrison hard for the starting job, which really came out of the blue. Now, Brown will be the man in the middle while Morrison recuperates. When Morrison returns, Oakland will try to find a way to utilize both players. No matter how well Brown has played (he looked solid against the 49ers) it will be tough to keep a healthy Morrison off the field.
