Pre-free agency opens quietly

By Paul Kuharsky

We didn’t know what to expect as Friday night turned into Saturday morning. The NFL’s never had a legal negotiating period building up to the start of free agency.

Perhaps we would have heard a lot of teams and players matched up. But a memo from the NFL appears to have squashed the potential for that and contradicted the very premise of the build-up days.

So what did we come out of the early hours of pre-free agency with?
None of it is real solid. None of it satisfies the appetite created by the idea of the new negotiating window.

I don’t expect we’re going to learn too, too much before free agency actually opens Tuesday afternoon.

Hurry up and wait.
