Blogger mock: Dion Jordan to Jaguars
By Paul Kuharsky
The hints from the Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t been strong ones, but we read what we can from David Caldwell and Gus Bradley.
The Jaguars need a foundational piece here, and teams starting a rebuild usually start inside out working on the lines.
An offensive lineman could be a value in the spot. Even if the Chiefs take Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher first overall, the one who’s left is a blue-chip prospect. Bradley said a first-round tackle would play on the right with Eugene Monroe remaining on the left.
Monroe’s contract is up after this season. I think he’s good but not great. He has potential to make great increases with the change from Andy Heck to George Yarno as offensive line coach.
Drafting a right tackle second overall isn’t maximizing value, however.
The team has had pass-rush problems forever. Ezekiel Ansah is too raw and too unproven. So Dion Jordan of Oregon is my choice for them. He might need a little time too, but he’s a physical specimen with explosion and those are qualities Jacksonville needs more of at the position.
The draft so far:
1. KC: Luke Joeckel, LT, Texas A&M
2. JAX: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
