Washington: 'I look forward to resolving it'
By Mike Sando
Daryl Washington's legal troubles worsened Friday when authorities charged the Arizona Cardinals linebacker with two counts of aggravated assault on the mother of his child.
"I regret that the situation has brought this kind of attention to my family and my team," Washington said in a statement. "I look forward to resolving it as soon as possible."
The police report filed in relation to the case contains a detailed account from the alleged victim's perspective. Most concerning: allegations that Washington used force great enough to throw down the alleged victim, breaking her clavicle.
The charges against Washington and the separate four-game NFL suspension he faces in relation to the league's substance-abuse policy have focused negative attention on him entering what could be a pivotal season. Washington's contract includes a $10 million option bonus payable in March 2014.
Earlier: Washington and the NFL's personal-conduct policy.
