Mo Claiborne: 'I'm ready to play now'

By Todd Archer

ARLINGTON, Texas – Morris Claiborne did not take a snap in five preseason games, but the Dallas Cowboys’ second-year cornerback said he will 100 percent when the season opens Sept. 8 against the New York Giants.

“I’m ready to play now,” said Claiborne, who missed three weeks with a jammed knee. “I got a couple of more days to better prepare myself and do a little bit more running. I know we’re going to be running a lot during the game. I don’t think it’s no big deal. It’s definitely football shape that you have to be in.”

He practiced Monday and Tuesday and went through conditioning work before watching Thursday’s loss to Houston from the sideline. In his two years Claiborne has played in only parts of two preseason games.

Claiborne will have a tough test next weekend in Giants receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz, who is battling a bruised heel.

“I missed the time, but I can’t get it back, so I just have to move forward and take advantage of the opportunity I have now,” Claiborne said.
