Could Harvin return sooner than expected?

By Terry Blount

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin sent out a tweet Wednesday insinuating it might be ready to return sooner than expected.

Harvin was Seattle's top offseason acquisition in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings. He was expected to step in and give the Seahawks a game-breaker type threat at receiver, but he suffered a torn labrum in a summer workout and underwent hip surgery on Aug. 1.

Normal recovery time from the procedure is three to four months, so the Seahawks are hoping he can return by late November. Obviously, Harvin believes it could be sooner.

Harvin was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list last week, which meant he would be eligible to return after the first six games.

Two week ago, Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Harvin’s surgeons were “thrilled” with his progress. Carroll said Monday that Harvin was progressing well, but there was no set timetable for his return.
